Rock Ness 2008 will be broadcast on Channel 4 TONIGHT at 00.00 and again on Saturday night at 00.10. Jim King, Festival Director "It was an amazing weekend. Great audience, great bands and great weather. A great deal of planning and preparation went into this year’s show to put on an event that we can be very proud of. Special thanks to the people who were in contact with us letting us know what improvements they wanted to see at the festival and we hope we delivered on these. The Bands and DJs are in overwhelming agreement that the crowd was the best they have played in front of for a long time and they all had a great time. As we quickly move into the planning of the next Rockness we hope you can take the time to fill out the questionnaire which you will find via the click through on the home screen. ![]() THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS !!!!!Its so close we can almost taste it!!!!The weather looks good, the tents are up, the bars are here, the Loch is shining and the music's on it's way!!!! New acts added to Scotland's first festival of the summer include, in the mighty CLASH Arena on Saturday, 80's-inspired popsters MYSTERY JETS, the enchanting troubadour KID HARPOON and NOAH AND THE WHALE whose jaunty sunshine melodies will hopefully bring good climate karma! Sunday's CLASH Arena will host the awesome electro experimentalists SOUTH CENTRAL, the psychedelic SUNNY DAY SETS FIRE and Leeds four piece ROCHELLE whose dance-packed synth set, carried with aplomb by frontwoman Lydia, will please ravers and rockers alike. Flying the female flag on Saturday's MAIN STAGE is the scorching SCANNERS fronted by raucous, sexy singer Sarah, whose sound has been compared to Sonic Youth and Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. They will be joined by the excellent surf-alt-goths BOOKHOUSE BOYS. TEAM WATERPOLO whose fresh, swinging party anthems will get the MAIN STAGE rocking on Sunday appear alongside the hotly tipped, multinational RED LIGHT COMPANY ahead of their debut album release this autumn. Hugely exciting is the addition of the brand new FAT SAMS ARENA on Saturday which offers a very tasty dance line-up indeed. Hailing from Crackney, UK RADIOCLIT SOUNDSYSTEM promise to blow minds with their ghetto pop, bongo dance showdown! Radio 1 maestro PETE TONG is also confirmed alongside LEATHERHEAD and esteemed DJ LOTTIE. They will be joined by a sublime talent who needs little introducing to dance aficionados, Berlin's funk punkster HEADMAN. Assuming the headline slot for the new FAT SAMS ARENA is FELIX DA HOUSECAT who will supply a double treat for fans when he also headlines the SKINS LIVE Arena on Sunday. 05 June 2008 |
LINE UP CHANGE...DAVID GUETTA'S OFFICE -"We regret to confirm that David Guetta will not be performing in the FMIF Arena at Rock Ness this year. Due to an unfortunate double booking error there has been a clash of dates which we have been unable to resolve. We have tried everything in our power to resolve this error but it has proved impossible and we have no choice but to cancel the Arena for this year. Our sincere apologies go to the organisers of RockNess and to all the fans who had hoped to see David Guetta play. We will be discussing coming back next year with the organisers at the earliest possible moment." ROCKNESS - Jim King, Joe Gibbs and Rob Hicks – Loudsound and Slingshot "We're all really excited about the new FAT SAMS ARENA. David Guetta can't make it. His office has made a booking error and he has to be in Eastern Europe. We tried really hard to work out the travel but he just can't make it. No bother though for the Scottish fans as FAT SAMS have stepped in and will host the arena instead. Felix da Housecatt was desperate to stay for the weekend so now he will play on the Saturday in FAT SAMS as well taking care of the Sunday night soundtrack in the SKINS ARENA. We spoke to Felix last night and can confirm he is lining up something really amazing for fans on the Saturday. We have also added HEADMAN and RADIOCLIT to the FAT SAMS ARENA which really strengthens the bill." 04 June 2008 |

You will need to go the PASS OUT GATE which is located right by the main campsite entrance and staff will give you a pass out ticket. You will then hand the pass out ticket back in when you re enter. The pass out ticket is only valid with a camping wristband. If someone has a pass out ticket and no wristband they will not be allowed to enter. Pass outs will be not be given outside of these times. Please remember that you cannot re enter with more alcohol. You must bring this into the campsite the first time you enter. Quote from Jim King. "We got it wrong and the changes needed to be made. We had some good dialogue with customers and together with them we worked out what seems to suit everyone the best. We still need to avoid having large groups sitting in the car parks which is unsafe as cars are moving around so this will not be allowed. The changes are there to allow people to make that important second trip to get their camping kit." 03 June 2008 |

Confirmed line-up, Rizla Arena, Rockness, 2008: Saturday 7th June 12 – 2am Maurice Fulton 8 -12pm Greg Wilson 6 - 8pm Billy Woods (Supermax Glasgow) 4.30 - 6pm Annie Nightingale 2 - 4.30pm Kid Acne 11 - 2pm Heavenly Jukebox Sunday 8th June 11 - 1am Graeme Park 9 - 11pm Justin Robertson 7 - 9pm Harri (Sub Club) 5 - 7pm Greg Wilson 2 - 5pm Autodisco DJs (dicky trisco + iamelectron) 11 - 2pm Heavenly Jukebox The updated Rizla Arena features a 1920's speakeasy inspired design, complete with musical van where the decks are based, creating the ideal space to chill during the day and party from late pm to early am. The bar is set high for this year's Rizla Arena having been described by punters in 2007 as; "The most amazing music in one of the most amazing settings I've ever been in. The Rizla area was without doubt the one place with a real club vibe happening. I was shaken." Selected on the strength of credibility and reputation in their respective creative fields, and their strong expression through music, the 2008 Invisible Players collective promises to generate plenty of unique and memorable moments. Here's the low-down on the Invisible Players of 2008… Greg Wilson was one of the 2007 Invisible Players, sparking a near riot when he hit the Rizla Arena last year. Greg was original dance resident at the Hacienda, and represents a cornerstone of modern day clubbing. His unique electrofunk sets, filled with rare edits and samples blaring from a 20 year-old reel-to-reel deck, make Greg a must-see. Kid Acne is a prolific urban 'decorator' and home-grown hip hop artist with a long list of artistic credits including his own comic book, 'Zebra Face'. Watch out for his unique style of art at the Rizla Arena, where he may be caught, can in hand. Justin Robertson is a true modernist. Creator of bespoke techno; remixer for the likes of Bjork, Radio 4 and Felix Da Housecat and an internationally recognised DJ, Justin can be spotted with one of his many hats attempting to lift the roof off the van. Annie Nightingale was the first female DJ on Radio 1, and has won an MBE for her sterling contribution to British music. An international DJ and documentary maker, dubbed 'Queen of Breaks' by the adoring music media, she promises to get the Rizla musical van rocking this summer. Playing from a unique musical van, a recreation of the original Rizla touring van of the 1920's, The Invisible Players will play spontaneous and inspiring sets from a diverse record collection. There are no prepared set lists, just pure improvisation and the creation of a unique vibe in the Rizla Arena. The sound could vary from Dub, Electrofunk, Balearic, Hip Hop, Breakbeat to Northern Soul and Acid House – the roots of popular music as we know it. Greg Wilson had this to say: "Last year was really special, the whole tour received such an energetic and positive reaction, culminating in the memorable finale at Bestival, undoubtedly one of the highlights of 2007 for me and the perfect way to top off the summer. Given the success of last year, and the anticipation that's built up towards this years dates, 2008 could be even better! Needless to say that I'm very much looking forward to playing in the Rizla van again." 2008 will see the Rizla Invisible Players play a series of club nights across the country as well as going to three of the UK's best festivals. Rockness (6-8 June) Big Chill (1-3 August) and Bestival (5-7 September) will all play host to the Rizla Arena. For more information visit rizla.co.uk 28 May 2008 |
![]() MEMORIES OF 2007 FROM CHEMICAL BROTHER No 1When it comes to great memories of RockNess 2007 I'm sure each and every one of you has your own favourite moment, but ever wondered what a main stage artist remembers from one crazy night in June...Talking in the Observer, Tom Rolands of The Chemical Brothers revealed his feelings about playing Rockness, "... Some festivals are like playing in car parks, meaning that there is nothing about the environment that is special. but last year we played Rockness on the shores of Loch Ness and it was beautiful. There was a mist that hung over the Loch, which made it look like God had a big dry ice machine that he was cranking up as we played. "We've always enjoyed playing in Scotland where the people take insanity to another level. The other aspect of Rockness that made the night especially memorable was the mad journey home along the areas tiny little roads. It reminded me of the Fuji rock festival in Japan.. You have to make a pilgrimage to get there but when you're there you know all about it!!" 20 May 2008 |

Our site management team ,and the guys in charge of the loos, have been working long and hard on a solution to keep your festival experience smelling a little sweeter. They will be ensuring the toilets are clean, have plenty of toilet rolls and generally keeping a eye on things in that area. We are also promoting the RockNess clean hands scheme so that there is hand sanitising facilities available for you after each visit… Don't forget, they most important people are YOU... try to give the toilet a once over as you leave ( and guys, please put the seat back down... ) x 05 March 2008 |
